How to Extract Selected Pages from a PDF
Extracting pages creates a new document containing only the pages you choose. Splitting every page instead produces many single-page documents. Choose the operation that matches the file you want to send or keep.
Open PDF Splitter ↗1. Identify physical page positions
Open your source in a PDF viewer and note the file positions of the pages you want. A cover can be physical page 1 even if the printed content begins with Roman numerals or starts counting later. The splitter uses physical positions.
2. Load an unencrypted PDF
Open PDF Splitter and select the source. This release accepts unencrypted documents up to 50 MB and 500 pages. Password-protected sources are rejected rather than bypassed. Keep the original document unchanged.
3. Write the page selection
Choose Extract selected pages. Enter comma-separated pages and inclusive ranges: 1, 3-5 keeps pages 1, 3, 4, and 5. A repeated page is included once. Selection order is preserved, so 5, 1 puts page 5 first.
4. Download and inspect the new PDF
Open the output and confirm page count, order, orientation, text, and images. Extracting scanned pages does not recognize text or improve scan resolution. It copies the selected pages into a new PDF.
5. Check document-level features separately
Bookmarks, form behavior, accessibility tags, internal destinations, and digital signatures may not remain intact. Do not use page extraction as a redaction tool: removing visible pages does not prove that sensitive metadata or content has been sanitized.
Try a small example first
For an 8-page test PDF, select 1, 3-5. The result should contain four pages in the same order. Try Every page mode separately if you need eight individual PDF files in a ZIP.
Can I extract pages from a scanned PDF?
Yes, within the file and page limits, if the document is unencrypted. The result remains image-based unless OCR was already present.
Ready to try it?
Use the tool on this site and check the output before sharing or importing it.
