How to split your video

01 / The workflow
01

Open and preview

Select a video and check that the picture and sound play correctly. Codec support depends on the browser and encoding engine.

02

Choose the passage

Enter start and end times in seconds. Export one clip at a time; change the range and repeat for more parts.

03

Encode and download

The browser loads the local processing engine and creates an MP4. Keep the page open, then download and check the result.

A practical exampleTo keep the passage from 00:30 to 00:45, enter 30 for the start and 45 for the end. The result is a 15-second MP4 clip; processing time depends on your device and source.

Know what to expect

02 / Details matter
InputVideo files your browser can preview, commonly MP4 and WebM
OutputMP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio when a source audio track is present; up to 1920 × 1080, 30 fps

100 MB input limit and up to 300 seconds per clip. First export downloads a roughly 31 MB video engine. Desktop browsers recommended. Encoding stops after two minutes if it cannot finish.

Export behavior

FFmpeg runs inside a browser worker and re-encodes the selected range to H.264 video and AAC audio. Larger sources are scaled to fit 1920 × 1080, and output is set to 30 fps. This is not a lossless stream copy.

Engine download and memory

The processing engine loads only when you export. Its first download is roughly 31 MB and can be cached by your browser. Decoding and encoding also need substantial memory; try a smaller file if your device struggles.

Check your result

Check sound, picture, and clip boundaries before sharing. Only the first video track and, when present, the first audio track are exported. Subtitles and other tracks are not included.

Questions, answered.

04 / FAQ
Can I split an MP4 file?

Yes, for supported source codecs. The exported clip is an MP4 containing H.264 video and AAC audio when the source has audio.

Does the video leave my device?

No. The engine is downloaded to your browser, but the selected file is processed locally and is not uploaded.

Is the cut lossless?

No. Video and audio are re-encoded. Output is limited to 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps and can differ in quality from the original.

Can I close the tab while exporting?

No. Keep the page open until the download link appears. Processing stops if you close or reload the page.

Why did export fail?

Possible causes include unsupported codecs, insufficient memory, or the two-minute processing timeout. Try a shorter clip or smaller source in a current desktop browser.
